Duc Vuong, M.D., is Director of Lovelace Bariatrics at Lovelace Westside Hospital. He joined Lovelace from Houston, Texas, where he specialized in weight-loss surgery and patient wellness.
Dr. Vuong earned his medical degree from Texas A & M in College Station, Texas, and he has completed extensive postgraduate and professional training in bariatric procedures and minimally invasive surgery. He specializes in single-incision approaches to surgery. Dr. Vuong is board-certified in general surgery by the American College of Surgeons. Known by his colleagues for his unique patient preoperative educational program, Dr. Vuong is active in many bariatric organizations, including serving as a Board Member for the Texas Association for Bariatric Surgery, a state chapter of ASMBS.
Additionally, Dr. Vuong has written and published three books. His latest book "Ultimate Gastric Sleeve Success" is now available. He is currently writing a diet book intended for wider audiences that will be out later this year. Dr. Vuong, a popular speaker at patient conferences, has made several media appearances, including “900 Pound Man: Race Against Time” on TLC/Discovery Health.

Theresa Gutierrez, FNP-C, is a certified family nurse practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of New Mexico and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of St. Francis Joliet.
Theresa is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Her professional interests include holistic care and chronic disease management. She is passionate about forming partnerships with her patients in order to work toward managing chronic disease processes and encouraging her patients to live healthier lives.
Mark Walker, D.O., is a board-certified internal medicine physician. He earned his doctorate of osteopathic medicine from the University of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, IA and he completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Dr. Walker joins Lovelace Medical Group from Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, where he served as an Internal Medicine physician.
Dr. Walker brings over 20 years experience to the Lovelace Medical Group team and vast clinical research experience in diabetes, incontinence and joint pain. Dr. Walker practices at our Westside location.
